Illinois Wind Power

In Illinois, wind power is a very viable option as a source of alternative energy. The state is currently producing approximately 1000 megawatts of electricity through the use of wind turbines. This is enough energy to supply power to over 300,000 homes throughout the state.

When it comes to the state of Illinois, wind power is a no-brainer. The state is blessed with wide open farmland and an abundance of wind, making it the ideal setting for commercial wind farms. The state government is also taking great strides to include renewable energy sources like wind as a part of an overall power system.

Illinois wind power has a lot of potential because much of the needed infrastructure is already in place. The state enjoys hundreds of miles of high voltage transmission lines already in place, due to their coal and nuclear power supplies. This means the state will not have to spend millions of dollars to create the necessary transmission systems.
