Proven Energy 6kW

In the up-and-coming world of renewable energy development, the field can be dichotomized into several categories: solar, hydroelectric, wind, biofuel, and geothermal energy. The Proven Energy 6kW Battery Charging Turbine - 48V Proven 6/048, hereafter referred to as the Proven Energy 6kW, falls into the wind power category of a renewable energy sources.

What makes the Proven Energy 6kW unique as compared to other wind turbines is the patented blade furling technology. The thermoplastic glass composite blades bend and mold to the wind conditions that they are faced with. A serious problem with wind turbines is that they can be too powerful for their mounting and construction. In higher wind speeds, an unregulated turbine can pull itself apart. This turbine has two forms of mitigation. The patented blades will twist in response to higher rotations per minute, from increased wind speeds, and form a conical shape. The smaller wind surface means that the wind has less of an effect on the rotation of the blades, while most of the force is swept along the surface of the blades..

The second breaking mechanism on the Proven Energy 6kW is universal in the turbine industry and is a mechanical breaking mechanism. With optimal average wind speeds, between 10 and 13.5 miles per hour, the turbine will generate between 6,000-12,000 kilowatt hours of energy. The tower’s maximum survival rate is 156 miles per hour, or a category four hurricane. (Category five hurricanes are those with wind speeds over 155 miles per hour.) Due to the advances in mechanical breaking and the special composite materials used, the Proven Energy 6kW wind generator will be a safe investment in renewable energy generation.

When you think about installing or constructing any turbines, it is important to take into account the height and weight of the aggregated turbine unit. The Proven Energy 6kW tower comes in two sizes, 30 and 49 feet, although additional tower sizes can be requested. There are no guy wires required for this tower. The weight is 794 or 1,446 pounds for the towers, respectively. The turbine weighs 1,323 pounds, meaning that a typical 49 foot tower and turbine would weight about a ton and a half.

Turbines need to be on tall towers in order to maximize the wind speed above the ground. For that reason, the minimal height on this tower is 30 feet. With a Proven Energy 6kW rotor diameter of 18 feet, if placed on the 30 foot tower, the lowest portion of the blade is just over 20 feet from the ground. Wind speeds increase dramatically with elevation. Placing a turbine on a restrictively short tower is similar to placing a solar module in the shade – you won’t get much out of it. Numerous engineers have developed optimal height and wind speed requirements for the wind towers, along with charts to help graphically represent the idealized circumstances. A checkup on the specifications prior to any investment is a must.

Lastly, understanding the local protocols for construction of tall structures, as well as incentives, and noise restrictions will be reviewed. In the United States, municipalities have the power to regulate the height of structures, double check in your area to verify the potential for this tower. Also depending on region, certain states will have incentives for renewable energy sources. Federal incentives exist, although they’re rare. Lastly, noise ordinances are commonplace. The Proven Energy 6kW has an establisted noise of 45 dBA at 11 miles per hour and 65 dBA at 45 miles per hour. All of these restrictions must be considered prior to installation.
